Hearsay Gastro Lounge is a restaurant that will not only surprise you with its outstanding cuisine, but also with its striking design.
This restaurant holds privileged location in the heart of downtown Houston
Our first visit to this restaurant was a few months ago, and it was, specifically, for a family dinner. As I described at the beginning of this post, we were not only impressed by the food, but also by the design and decoration of the establishment.
When you step into this restaurant, you’ll feel dwarfed by the towering ceiling and spectacular chandelier. The exposed brick on the walls adds to its charm. You can find all of these features inside the second oldest commercial building in Houston (1860).
The Food at Hearsay Gastro Lounge
You’ll find American food at this place, brought to you from the hands of the young but experience chef Edwin Chanas. Edwin Chanas was born in Guatemala, but he was raised in Houston. In 2007 he graduated with a Culinary Arts degree from the Art Institute of Houston. He also has solid experience in some of Houston’s most famous kitchens.
At Hearsay Gastro Lounge, you can find a diverse selection of dishes. Among them are salads like one made with vodka cured smoked salmon. Other dishes to share include charcuterie, tempura battered lobster, and one of the restaurant’s star appetizers: Peruvian ceviche. For your entrée, you can choose from different types of fish, meat, pasta. They also offer more informal dishes, such as sandwiches, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
The American classics of hamburgers and hot dogs are what we opted for this time around.
The Byrd is a delicious Angus beef hamburger with bacon, cheddar, mozzarella, fried egg, onions, jalapeños, avocado, mustard, mayo, ketchup, and tomato all inside a slightly crispy sweet bun. All of this was served with a side of macaroni and cheese… it seems like enough, right? 😉

Cocktails at Hearsay Gastro Lounge
Hearsay Gastro Lounge isn’t just a place to go eat. It also offers us a noteworthy drink menu with wine, beer, and cocktails made with a vast array of quality liquors. In the image above, you can see a cocktail called Jalapeño. This simple yet well-crafted cocktail is made with vodka, lemon, sugar, and jalapeño.
